"Some of your shower curtain rails are stated as having an adjustable ceiling rod. What does this mean?"
The ceiling rods are only adjustable by cutting to make shorter.
"I have determined that I need to cut my shower rod, so what should I use to cut it with?"
The manufacturer suggests that a
tubing cutter (the type that plumbers
usually use) to cut copper or brass tube will work. Caution: The cutter guide
wheels should be clean and free of nicks or use a soft rag or multiple layers of
tissue paper to protect the rods finish. Also, some cutters with worn cutter and
guide wheels may tend to "thread" the tube if used in a continuous forward
motion. A back and forth motion should be used to prevent "threading".
"I see that one side of the shower curtain rod is fixed and the other adjustable/loose. How easy is it to
adjust the adjustable side?"
The LOOSE (adjustable) end (flange) is pressed on,
and can usually be removed by simply pulling on it.
However, if that doesn't work, you can try heating it up with hot water (not a torch as you could possibly harm the finish),
and perhaps lubricating it with some sort of non-staining lubricant. The fixed end cannot be removed at all without damaging the rod.
These rods aren't cheaply made and there is no ugly set screw to ruin the looks.
"How are their finishes? Do they hold up?"
They are "the best." Consider the brass finish: Most standard curtain rods in polished brass are susceptible to tarnishing. Myson calls their brass finish Regal Brass, not Polished Brass. The coating on standard rods (most brass finishes) won't stand the expansion and contraction from the heating/cooling encountered on a towel warmer. Myson uses a "gold flash" in it's brass plating. It gives it a slightly different ("richer looking") color or tone. But it won't tarnish (because gold doesn't tarnish) and it withstands the heat/cool demand. Yes, it's more expensive, but it works and we have never found a better quality shower curtain rod anywhere. If price is not a concern and you want the best shower curtain rods made, then we hope that you will consider Myson shower curtain rods.
"Will the nickel finish rust?"
According to Myson, none of the finishes on their shower curtain rods will rust. Over time, as the nickel finish is exposed to air, it will tend to darken.
"Are the Myson Brass Rods solid rail or hollow brass tubing?"
To keep the weight down they are made out of hollow (thick) top quality tubing.
"What gauge are these shower curtain rods?"
The Myson shower curtain rods shown on this page are 19 gauge brass.
"I finally found a place that sells top quality curtain rods. Do you also offer top quality shower curtains?"
We want to be the best at what we do. We are strictly a plumbing-only-supplier, and so do not offer a large shower curtain selection. We do offer 15 foot shower curtains for those that need a very long one for clawfooted tubs. It is of good quality but not top quality (unlike the rods on this page which are the best made).
"Are the Myson Regal Brass Rods laquered to prevent tarnishing?"
No they are not "coated" (which is the same as their fantastic towel warmers). They are warrantied by Myson against tarnishing for 5 years (same as Myson's towel warmers).
